Language House International Film Series: "Persepolis" with the Persian & French Clusters

College of Arts and Humanities | Language House | School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Monday, April 21, 2025 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm St. Mary's Hall Multipurpose Room and Lounge, 0107 St. Mary's Hall International Film Lounge

Join us for an international movie screening at the Language House, hosted by students in the Persian and French clusters.

We will screen Persepolis at 6 p.m. Monday, April 21, in 0107 St. Mary's Hall, the International Film Lounge.

The film, written and directed by Marjane Satrapi, tells the poignant story of a young girl in Iran during the Islamic Revolution, when hopes were dashed as fundamentalists took power. Based on Satrapi's graphic novel, Persepolis follows her life in pre- and post-revolutionary Iran and later in Europe. It traces her growth from a child to a rebellious, punk-loving teenager against the backdrop of Iran’s political turmoil in the 1970s and ’80s, including the detention and execution of her liberal-leaning family members and the devastation of the Iran-Iraq War.

Everyone is welcome to attend.
