The SLLC mourns the loss of Cynthia “Cindy” Martin, associate professor in the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures (SLLC), who was also the undergraduate program director for Russian and died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

PUBLICATIONS: Dr. Martin is the author of textbooks and curricular materials used in programs across the US (including Russian Stage II: Welcome Back! a three-volume video-based Russian course for intermediate students, Kendall-Hunt & American Council of Teachers of Russian (co-author) 2001).  She publishes in the area of proficiency development and assessment, as well as curriculum design.  She has translated 26 books and over 150 catalogues and articles by Russian artist Ilya Kabakov, including: ORBIS PICTURES, Children's Book Illustrator as a Social Character. A bilingual Japanese English edition of autor's commentary on over 100 book illustrations. The Tokyo Shimbun, 2007, Tokyo Japan.
