Professor Ana Patricia Rodríguez to be Recognized by MICA at MVP Awards
Dr. Ana Patricia Rodríguez, Associate Professor of U.S. Latina/o and Central American Literatures at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese has been awarded the “Champion of Diversity Award” by the MICA staff and will be recognized at the MVP Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 11, 2017. This award is presented each year to a campus faculty/staff member whom MICA staff and students believe goes beyond the scope of their assigned duties in supporting diversity efforts on campus. The award seeks to honor those who have especially impacted the UM student community.
The Office of Multicultural Involvement and Community Advocacy (MICA) is charged with working with students and organizations in varying University of Maryland culturally specific communities, founded to support the needs and address the concerns of these specific cultural communities. The MICA Office utilizes an advising model that encourages student learning known as MVP, or the MICA Vision Plan (MVP), to encourage and recognize excellence among cultural student organizations in the areas of scholarship, personal, identity, organizational, leadership, and community development, community service and service learning as well as cross cultural development.
