LOC Book Presentation By Professor Naharro-Calderón
December 04, 2017
SPAP Professor Naharro-Calderón presented his newest book at the Library of Congress in September.
Professor José María Naharro-Calderón, of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Maryland, gave an exciting presentation of his new book at the Library of Congress’s Whittall Pavillion in Washington, D.C. on September 29, 2017. Titled Entre alambradas y exilios: Sangrías de las Españas y terapias de Vichy, the book is a thought-provoking study that delves into the complex cultural and historical contradictions condemned by Spanish Republican exiles after the Civil War (1936-1939). The book presentation was led by Hispanists Sebastiaan Faber (Oberlin College) and Germán Labrador (Princeton University).
The event was announced on the Embassy of Spain’s Spain Arts and Culture website, and was also live-streamed from the Department of Spanish and Portuguese’s Facebook page. It was sponsored by the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, UMD, the Hispanic Division at the Library of Congress, and the Hispanic Cultural Society.
