Germanic Studies is pursuing bronze level certification through the Office of Sustainability
As part of our program’s comprehensive engagement with questions of sustainability and environment, Germanic Studies is pursuing bronze level certification through the Office of Sustainability’s [www.sustainability.umd.edu] Green Office Program [www.greenoffice.umd.edu].
While the environmental humanities have long been central to research and teaching agendas within the program--as seen in courses like "Green Germany: Poets, Nazis, and Environmentalists" and the "Nuclear Futures" seminar co-taught by Dr. Hester Baer and Dr. Michele Mason--our participation in this program brings our examination of critical discourses around the environment to bear on our daily practices as members of the university community.
