2024–25 ARHU Boren Recipients

The scholarships provide up to $25k for two semesters of critical language study.

Six undergraduate ARHU students received Boren scholarships to study abroad during the 2024–25 academic year in world regions critical to U.S. interests. The scholarships are part of the Department of Defense's National Security Education Program and provide for up to $25,000 for two semesters of critical language study. In exchange for funding, Boren Award recipients agree to work in the federal government for a period of at least one year.
ARHU 2024–25 Boren Scholarship Awardees:
Jenna DiMaggio ’26, a triple major in Arabic studies, Spanish literature and culture, and English literature, will study Arabic in Morocco.
Evan Finnessy ’25, a double degree student in Russian language and literature and Arabic studies, will study Arabic in Morocco.
Feriel Friloux ’25, who is majoring in Arabic studies, will study Arabic in Morocco.
Amaya Greenberg ’25, a double major in Arabic studies and government and politics, will study Arabic in Morocco.
Zachary Wandalowski ’24, a double major in government and politics and economics with a minor in German studies, will study Tagalog in the Philippines.
Oreet Zimand ’24, a triple degree student in Russian language and literature, history and government and politics, will study Russian in Latvia.
